I quite agree, it looks to me that we might be comparing 'like for like' if you try to compare Scully/Whyte with Jacobs and a fit Curtis. There's too much hype and unsustained optimism around at the moment. You can't make an assessment based on a statistical analysis or the judgement of fans that seem them play (presumably, against us) about half a dozen times. We have to wait and see.
I'm not a big fan of friendlies, especially glorified kickabouts against non-league opposition other than the fact that we are doing our bit for the local football communityl. Having assembled 90% of the squad early, as they promisedaid we would, we don't need to lose any advantage moving onto 5th August. We have two friendlies scheduled against league opposition but we'll need to firm up on strategy, tactics and team selection I think we will need a third game against League One/Championship opposition, even if it's behind closed doors, before the big kick-off.
