Sadly if he excels, Chelsea suggest he will move on and up, but that gives him an incentive at least.
If he plays to a decent level but not outstanding we may get to keep him until the end of the season.
Means we will have a proper No. 10 so let's hope JM can come up with a better more exiting formation.
I think that deal is the right one. If he does badly or is injury prone then he can go back. I think if he does really well, Chelsea would still let him stay. He'd be (hopefully) happy and settled in a promotion chasing team and there would be little value in moving him on yet again for a speculative move away from Pompey. Unless of course he was so magically game changingly brilliant fornus that Chelsea wanted to put him straight into their own first team which seems unlikely.
