I've still got the Sports Mail/ Football Mail from that day somewhere no t'internet or mobile phones in those days
That was a great day for Pompey fans... but not so great for Stonehenge, several sheep, the football special and everything else that got sprayed blue on the journey down.
That really was a great day.
All the sweeter because I lived and worked in Plymouth for 4 years in the 70’s, it was great to win such a crucial game at Home Park .
Talk about invasion, we took the place over.
As with much of modern life though, the spontaneity has gone out of things, these days you know almost exactly how many fans will be in the stadium. All ticket games have drained a lot of the fun out of it.
Days like Plymouth, Liverpool and all the rest have been consigned to the pages of the history books.
