All of this weekends Premier league and EFL games have been called off. Well there is a reason, not one you agree with obviously, but there is a reason. Ffs.

Indeed.

So, what did everyone do instead?
Did everyone sit in sombre silence?

I did some gardening and went for a swim. Boring as fook.

So, no football for 11 days?

So why aren’t any other games being postponed then? I thought the country was in a period of mourning, until she’s been buried? Why postpone today’s games: what did that achieve?

If we draw with Burton I will not be pleased although it would be a typical example of Pompey coming unstuck

Look, it's perfectly simple. It is totally inappropriate for sport to take place in a period of mourning. That's why, as a mark of respect to the lady, all sport was called off today.
Except the rugby (because the ball's a different shape). Oh, and the golf at Wentworth as golf is a much quieter sport and already respectful. And, er, the racing 'cos she liked a little flutter and the ladies cricket at Durham which would be discriminate against women and.....

Being Mrs Hammie's birthday, I actually remembered and organised a lunch with the grandchildren.
We'd only have lost at Barnsley anyhow, I can be equally depressed on a Tuesday evening some time soon.

I was on my way back from Eastbourne after finishing the South Downs Way.
I would have gone via London for the Rejoin March but that was postponed too.

I must admit ( hind sight being 20-20 and all that), that the weekend games could’ve ( and should’ve) gone ahead ( possibly moving the 1200 KO back to 1500 for the accession). Especially as many other events weren’t postponed. Marks of respect could’ve been paid by many. I can understand postponing games on the day of the actual funeral. Anyway like Liz Truss I’ve changed my mind. PUP GSTK.
Apparently the FA made the decision because they were worried some fans would not show respect.
They could have just called off the Liverpool game.

I dont understand it.
The Cricket was on Saturday as was the rugby. Why couldnt we have a minutes silence, a minutes applause, wear black armbands and get on with it?

Great way to see the countryside, good for you and there is usually a good pub at the end. Shame you had to spoil it all by mentioning the EU, but each to his/her own . Glad to see that the totally pointless march was postponed though, it would have been a totally pointless exercise. Only a complete idiot would rejoin that total disaster of a ‘Union’. |
