Perhaps they'll find a local club that'll take them on.

Glad but sad to see them go. Glad because they were obviously out of their depth and not up to handling a big League One club. Sad because as has been said they were decent guys and there's no doubt they worked their socks off.
It all highlights the need to get an experienced versatile management team in place who are both tactically astute and know how to motivate players.

It remains to be seen as to whether our squad is in a state, or not. If a new manager comes in and we suddenly start performing, I know who I will be pointing the finger of blame at. Regardless of tactics, team selection etc etc, there are more than a few players who have not earned their wages.

We play 5 loan players every week after 4 transfer windows, the squad is in a state.

That was never gonna be easy. Let's not forget, some of them had all the grace of a 3 legged cat trying to bury a crap on an ice rink. Last years loans were generally very good (one particular overpaid offering aside) and couldn't be accused of depleting the squad or lacking ambition. This year's, on the other hand, have been bang average and the club and Cowley (jointly) should have recruited more and better permanents in the summer - once again it was left too late because of the tight belt.

Tyler Walker cost the wages of 2 players. He free’d up Bass’ wages and got a keeper in who he got rid of and then eventually replaced bass with a bloke who can’t hold a football, even the commentator on the ITV highlights was mocking him. So the only GK we have on the books has a 1 year contract that expires in June. He hasn’t built anything here and that’s the problem.
Playing Hirst for months without scoring cost us, yes he came good but you can’t go 3 months without scoring and expect to go up. The Eisners said publicly they didn’t want a team of loans but Danny can only name players that have played for him before, his contacts in football don’t seem extensive. We have no core of a team because the players are on loan, that is unacceptable after 4 windows. He had a bigger budget than KJ and they also funded signings above the budget. We own 1 striker.

Cowley had the ability to turn a decent footballer into a pile of shite over a very short space of time.(mucho hoofball) At Hudersfield he fell out with a pile of lads who were on big dough,ex prem and they wouldnt take instructions from a pe teacher, so he sent them off to train with the youths!! (huddersfield owner Dean Hoyle not happy so marked DC`S card and his days were then numbered+ hoofball).........sacked wanted too much control and mega money to piss on players. DC is all vebal( some supporters suck it all in,says the right thing) but fans who know the game judge it by what is happening on the pitch.(not mumbo jumbo post match sloping shoulders trash) Pompey fans deserve better but owners sometimes get sucked in by talkers ....at least the Eisners acted.......good move for Pompey.

The lack of professional experience must have been a problem with any group of experienced pros.
Looks like that to me anyhow.

I suspect a lot of that was to do with statistics provided by the sports bras. So and so has run more than 300 yards so they must be tired. Whitts would have never got a game, being assessed as too tired from all that running and self training he used to do.

The level of performance, from supposed pro players, was absolutely atrocious.
Cowley had to go because of his part in all this but the players should be hounded for their astonishing lack of contribution. Regardless of tactics, players selection etc etc, there should still be a minimum effort from the people actually on the pitch. With the exception of Morrell, Dale and Swanson in the starting 11, there was zero effort. Small wonder that Cowley hauled three of them off at half time. I’d have made five substitutions, if I’d had the players available.

I totally agree with the above about constant chopping and changing of teams and tactics but I think the training was also a factor.
Each season, Cowley has started off well, pre-season training has delivered its benefits but then, as the weekly schedule sets in, form, falls away. When you look at the goals we have conceded recently they are often dispossessions from players who are not switched on or the result of opposition players beating our defenders to that final ball into the box. Is this because our players don't care or are just not physically and mentally switched on for 90 minutes on match day? I think it's the latter. Our training does not prepare us to be at the top of our game on match days. Look at our squad: Pack, Morrell, Bishop, Pigott, Robertson.......these are quality players. For me, it's about fitness and motivation.....in a settled side where everyone understands their roles.

Cowley has only started two seasons at Pompey. The first, we were quite frankly, awful but we somehow managed to win a few games. This season was totally different and we looked like contenders as champions, never mind just promotion hopefuls. Then the injuries to our midfield started to bite and we were playing fourth and fifth choices in midfield. Couple that with losing all three of our right back players and small wonder we struggled.
The collapse of our defence has been shocking. We know they can do it but lapses of concentration(like against Ipswich) have been all too common of late. Three Ipswich players were ready to pounce on Griffiths parried shot, not one defender even close.

let`s not forget the promises the Cowleys made at that first interview.

Cowley 8/1 for the newly vacant Swindon job.
Hughton short priced favourite....Manning not in the early reckoning.

For me it has to be Wilder, the only one on our short list with championship experience. Can't say I'm upset about Griffiths going,I didn't think he was as bad as some were making out I think that was down to DC's sweeper/keeper tactics. The most important issue IMO is WTF is actually wrong with Lowery, the silence is deafening
