Difficult not to appreciate Dales energy and effort. He’s been one of the few players I’ve had any time for of late. If only he could sought out that last pass/shot/run.

I think the new manager can be allowed a bit of chopping and changing as he gets to know his players, but, as you say, we do not need the whole sale changes that Cowley used to engage in.

I thought Mackey was excellent, just what we needed.
Towler, after a dodgy first 5 was very assured and I think he’s a great signing. We weren’t great yesterday but we had an attacking intent and reaped the reward for that, it’s great not having to wait until the 80th minute for our first shot. Dale deserved MOM, phenomenal energy and deserved a goal to go with it. Exeter are a good side and we beat them, a good day’s work imo. Really enjoyed the game, the atmosphere and togetherness was back and the pathetic banner flown over the ground drew nothing but derision from those around me. Some people have more money than sense ffs.

Jacobs is our best by far Set piece taker so will need to find someone better which will cost. Yes, he needs to improve his general play & got out muscled in midfield yesterday but still not 100% fit. That will come with more game time.

Great to see a bit of confidence coming back in the 2nd half. Hope that the momentum is now swinging back to improving each week rather than getting worse.
Need to offload Freeman, Robertson and Curtis this window.

Freeman yes - but who will take an injured player ? Robertson no, he is a class defender at this level and the best distributror of the ball from defence and also good at deadball situations. I wouldn't get rid just because he is injury prone, just make the best of him when he is fit. Curtis - maybe, if you want to get any money for him, but it will only be peanuts with only 6 months on his contract and I think there is a chance the change of manager could spark a recovery in form, and if that doesn't trying to impress new suitors is more likely to. So on balance I'd keep him in the hope we can get a good last few months from him.

I’m sure I read a couple of weeks back that Freeman has been lined up by Mansfield but it would not go through before the new manager was appointed (as with Morrison).

Unfortunately we don’t play in the NFL so need a player who does more than take the occasional free kick. We have others who are capable of taking them.

Might also be because we've scrapped the stupid train thing and the players can just focus on getting on the end of crosses. And maybe he will improve with game time, but will he manage to stay fit for long enough. Away from home I'd swap for Curtis so we defend further up the pitch but won't be upset if he leaves a winning team as it is.(22-01-2023, 11:46 AM)mikey393 Wrote:(22-01-2023, 10:51 AM)bluetagagain Wrote: TBH we need to replace Curtis and Jacobs and get someone better than ‘no end product’Yesterday the feedback was that Curtis looked sharper when he came on. |
