comparing a club who have not built a ground to the many who did so, then went bust to avoid paying for it is not exactly comparing like with like.,

Yes, there have been much needed ground improvements and they should be congratulated on that. What those ground improvements really cost we do not know (and as it’s now privately owned, you could say it’s none of our business!]. Many are giving them a free pass for on field investment by defending them with the ground improvements pass. Be interesting to know real costs. On the field, just what has been spent, factoring in money for players sold. Because from were I’m looking, it looks as though it is no higher than what a trust owned club would have committed. A free pass for what?

Two seasons ago we were rubbing shoulders with SFC. Competing at every level. 2019/10 they were relegated to the conference league. 2013/14 they were promoted back to league 2. 2017/18 they were promoted to league 1. 2018/19 they were promoted to championship 2021/22 lost playoff for premier league. 2022/23 currently 4th in the championship. The ground capacity is 10,356. That’s quite a ride that I’d loved us to have been on, apartment from relegation to the conference of course.

Brentford and Bournemouth didn't sink quite as far down the league but also prove what can be done on minimal gate income.

Both of those have owners who have spent millions. Bournemouth must be in mega debt to their owner as they cant possible survive on their gate and merchandise income

looking at the comments about Bournemouth above. When they made the prem, the even had to reduce capacity to make room for more journalists on a free match and meal ticket.
Can you imagine the furore if we got there and a load of ST holders lost their seat for the same reason. |
