We've acquired a lot of bench warmers but No head turners. I like the owner who seems like a genuine nice guy but still doesn't understand English Football. He now appears to be totally reliant on RH who did acquire 2 good players end of last year but this is a far harder total team rebuilding task. But what experience has he really had of being a DOF. Forrest Green Rovers who nobody had heard of 2 years ago but somehow managed to get in to Div 1 last year but got instantly relegated. Unless we sign a couple of decent contract players & a couple of loans - agree about Chelsea using JH connections we could struggle. I know I'm biased but think we should have kept Michael Jacobs for another year & played him in the No.10 role. Good creative players cost money & it doesn't look like we're prepared to spend it!

I really don’t understand all this negativity when you haven’t seen the current team play and a ball hasn’t even been kicked. As we all know, football is played on the pitch not on paper. The art of management is to create a team from a bunch of individuals, you have to get the chemistry right. There are countless examples of teams consisting of players who were not previously household names confounding the pessimists. There are also countless examples of teams who have spent big on ‘name’ players who have failed miserably. As for Jacobs, if he was a good as you appear to think he is he’d be a regular in a Championship team. He isn’t because, despite having ability, he just doesn’t possess the ability to stamp himself on games. Let’s have a bit of optimism lads ffs.

I can’t remember the last time Jacob's had a good game for us?

Jacobs FFS move on , at his best he was only a half decent L1 player, he was hardly a lower league Messi.
I’m not sure about the potential signing of Gavin Whyte, his scoring record is poor for club level and for Northern Ireland. He isn’t even a Northern Ireland regular and god knows the current NI squad needs decent players as we’re going through a rebuild. I believe there are better goal scoring wide players out there and we really need another one as I don’t think Lane has more than half a dozen in him( I’d love to be proved wrong). Anyway I’m optimistic for promotion this season, so bring it on. PUP.

Panutche Camará (loan) or Lewis wing, Gavin Whyte, josh ruffels, one of Di'Shon Bernard and taylor moore,
I’d still take sulley Kaikai as a rotation direct winger

Clark-Harris is on the transfer list at Peterborough. If affordable, could he play in the attacking 3 behind Bishop?

There’s no but. It’s paper talk to fill pages and Twitter click bait. They mean nothing, doesn’t mean we’ve missed out on anyone reported. Do you expect the club to pay championship wages in L1? Do you expect a player to come to us if he has offers from the Championship? That doesn’t show a lack of ambition on the clubs behalf. What are we going to do with 4 strikers when we play 1 upfront? It’s a wages budget, it’s not a target and there’s still 2 months to go.

There is so much rubbish in this post it is hard to respond to it all, you really have outdone yourself here. Why on earth would you expect the owner to not be totally reliant on the man he has appointed to run the recruitment?! Fucking hell Mikey, please tell me you’re on a wind up?! Eisner has never and will never sign players he wants. Do you think he’s out scouting players?! I’d wager Micheal Eisner has a better understanding of English football and PFC than you do. He certainly watches more games!! Jacobs wanted to leave, does he not get a choice?? How do you think FGR got from you not knowing them to L1?!

Derby County look to have strengthened the best so far. Some decent names added to their squad. Here is the news article for reference:
https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/footb...ry-4195781 Plenty of shitshow clubs still to sign anyone. L1 really is the pinnacle of disorganisation lol

You havent obviously understood my post have you? I'm saying he's put all his eggs in one basket appointing RH who's recruitment experience in Div1 is very limited. As the owner of the club I'm sure he has as it's cash bank rolling the club. I attended 2 games last season about the same as him I think. I'd rather listen to Guy on the radio coverage tbh. Again, all I'm saying is we haven't replaced Jacobs with an upgrade like Lewis Wing have we? I want to be positive about next season but won't be rushing to the bookies just yet!

No I haven’t Mikey because it’s drivel. Do you think we should get 4 DoF’s so he can’t put his eggs in more baskets? Surely a DoF with with bags of L1 experience would be looking to progress their career higher up the leagues? Which DoF with years of success in L1 were you thinking of? I said watch, not attend. You’d rather listen to the radio than watch the games?! You’re criticising the players we’ve signed but don’t even watch us let alone the players you’re moaning about?! We haven’t signed someone who barely plays and rarely has a good game anymore? The window has been open 2 weeks, there is a long way to go.

Derby signing players. Are they the next to follow Wigan into promotion and then bust? They are in a better position as they have a decent following unlike Wigan. But the sign players get promoted and then go bust in the champ is looking a more likely scenario for more mid sized clubs year on year.

That's a good point Hammie.
Clubs that get promoted that have done well, tend to go up with a good , injury free team. Luton and Coventry have made that step up very successfully. The premier league is altogether a different league. Keeping Luton up will be a massive task. The other sides like Wigan have imploded. Reading are in trouble too. It seems its the championship that carry's all the risks. Too many sides or rather owners are 'gambling' and although they 'own' the sides itsthe fans, as we can attest, who ultimately suffer when 'their' club is saddled with debt that is existence threatening
