He got his customary assist but also made some important interceptions and tackles. Looked much better although I think Bolton didn't do nearly enough down that flank. His defensive play still needs sone work, he was given the run around for the first 20 odd minutes. To his credit he kept at it and improved as the game went on, his delivery has never been in question of course.

I thought last night’s tactics were spot on and our second half showing was fantastic.
Bolton are a very good side but we made them look ordinary at best. Brilliant night game at the Park. PUP

Anyone else got a muzzy head this morning?
Just watched Mousihno's post match interview. He talked about the players being brave and I think that's what's been missing in the last five years. Bravery from the manager. After going in front, Cowley and Jackett would have tried to shut up shop and put everyone behind the ball. A recipe for disaster. Mousinho was brave and went for attack. Sometimes it won't work but more often it will and we at Pompey will love that positivity every time!

if you want to read the opposition reports and player ratings:
https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/topics/p...wanderers/ He seemed to think we were noisy last night and that their players faded after the miss. Seems about right, although their fans were pretty good until we scored, much as their team.

Well there was me thinking we were a bit thin up front and Yengi turns in a performance like that in front of a full house in a six-pointer against one of the best sides in the division and with little game time under his belt this season. This is good for Colby as well. Takes the pressure off him to be the main man on the pitch all match and every match. Winners all round and well done you young man!

Had worse nights, Fantastic performance and FIVE goals in last two games . Well done JM for keeping the attacking options rolling and keeping Bolton on the back foot.

Instead of holding on, we were always on the lookout for the second. I don't think Bolton had an off day. They started well and should've got the lead. The team made Bolton look ordinary. Long time since i've seen players run for every single ball. I just hope they don't feel as exhausted as I do this morning after all that stress. PS: Bit controversial but has the absence of Bishop actually done us a favour? Two clean sheets and five goals from all over the pitch.

I think that’s a valid thought and one I had voiced to someone before the game that just maybe what seems like a massive blow can work in your favour. At the very least it shows we can play a slightly different but equally effective game with Colby or with Yengi. We looked really fluid with Yengi up top. I hope no one thinks I am in any way dissing Bishop btw!!

I’d read that Whyte was the fastest player in our team and didn’t believe it till last night. He can shift. As others have said it’s gonna be hard to pick the team when Bishop, Scully, Ogilvie, Lowery et al are fit. Gonna be hard to get on the bench! Helluva squad we’ve got now and Raggett has slotted straight back in. I expect Towler and Swanson who are both good young players to play in the Mickey Mouse cup.

I could never understand the fans who doubted Raggett. My only slight concern about Whyte ( having watched him many times), is that he’s more of a cutting in wide player rather than a winger. However, if he hits his Oxford form again , we’ll have another decent player that gives us different options.

Whyte, playing inside last night, looked far more effective.
Has he got his eye on the forward midfield spot when Robertson goes to Asia?
12-12-2023, 03:53 PM
He could probably be more useful there , he reminds me more of an old fashioned inside forward.

I thought he replaced Kamara on the right ? But he did drift in more than Kamara had been doing.

Last night for the first 35mins we looked like a under 12s team, you could see the next pass we were going to make.... And they closed us down so well, with pace in their attack, if that goal went in I feel like we could have had another Blackpool on our hands....
And to make it feel even more like a under 12s game, the ref felt like he was the dad of Ricardo Santos... The only difference was, I don't think a Dad would get away with being that biased in a kids game. Yengi was class and offers us so much more then Bishop.... Gutted about another Injury to Kamara... For the first time in a Pompey shirt Whyte showed there could be a player there.... Norris should have been given a bit of credit for keeping it at 0-0. And I know it's only one game, but I don't think Robertson is as good in the number 10 roll.... He looks so much better playing from deeper, as this allows him more time on the ball.

And one for them..... How good did Maghoma Look!.
Every time he got on the ball and ran at our defence, he looked like he was going to create a chance.

It seems Sulaiman Al Fahim was at the game last night. I would happily see this fucker banned from attending.
