Living up to the billing, this. What a game between two good sides!

Yengi gradually getting the measure of Santos. Just needs that bit extra. Bloody shame he slipped when he did.

Someone tell Sky Sports how to pronounce Shaugnessy

No surprise to see yous leading ladies and gents, still the best team I've watched this season, huge result if you see out the 3 points

You were much the better team tonight. Worst BWFC performance I've seen in a long time and lot of the credit for that goes to your press and professionalism. Did a job on us and we never got our passing game together. Congrats and hope to see you at the Toughsheet.

Cheers W. We had to be at our best to beat you though. It seems laughable that we can lose to a team like Blackpool.
Haven’t seen Stevenage yet but they’ll need to be very good to beat you to an auto place. Let’s hope both of us make it ahead of them. Fantastic game between worthy opponents.

What a great game against a team who’d won 10 out of 11. Harried them off the ball, they just kept making mistakes trying to play out from the back. Immense effort by all, I lost count of the interceptions Morrell made. So pleased for Yengi too, what a battle with Santos. Pack never stopped either. Not Robertson’s best match but still a danger throughout. Great header from Shocker and Raggers very steady. Pleased for Whyte, only on for a short time but did really well and got the assist. Norris only had one save to make second half and pulled off a worldie first half which Charles then wasted. Sparkes and Rafferty good performances too. Lane battled well and Kamara was a real thorn in their side too till he got injured, hope he’s ok. 6 points clear now, wow. PUP

Surely this is finally our year. Surely.

I haven't been this happy since I first had sex, and that definitely didn't last 90 minutes with loads of lovely touches. Bolton were extremely unfortunate to be behind at the break but we just bullied them second half. The best win we have had since the Prem days.

Goal difference is now ours again!!!!!!!

BTW, how good was Whyte when he came on? I hope Kamara is OK but what a case Gav made there.

Brilliant cross for Yengi

The commentary wasn't fantastic. At one point they hailed the "19,000 Bolton fans" who turned up, and said Saydee was on loan from Bournemouth.

The half time talk must have been good, because the change of tactics of pressuring the defence really worked

Fratton looked great under the lights. So good to see Pompey come out after the break and get right into them. Really unsettled Bolton and they never really recovered.

Robertson didn't have his best game gling foward but I thought he did a great job hassling the usually very good Josh Sheehan relentlessly all night.

Great performance from the team, no excellent. Our high up pressing was outstanding, it forced so many errors.
Yengi, Rafferty and Kamara (hope it's not serious) stood out. Sparks crossing was very good also. MOM for me was Yengi great to see him score. For Bolton, they're still 2nd lost only once in 11 and there because they're a very good side. They should remember we got drubbed 4-0 recently. It happens. They'll get over it and be pushing for the auto spot.

A mention for Sparkes. I feared for him big time before tonight defensively. He got his customary assist but also made some important interceptions and tackles. Looked much better although I think Bolton didn't do nearly enough down that flank.

I think we reorganised at half time, put our captain in charge of stopping that flank. For the first time in months I thought Whyte looked to really affect the game when he came on. Seemed happier playing more centrally.

Our points totals after 20 games in our league one seasons. How we fucked up 18/19 still haunts me, but it still looks very promising.
17/18- 29 PTS 18/19-46 PTS 19/20- 28 PTS 20/21- 38 PTS 21/22- 32 PTS 22/23- 30 PTS 23/24- 45 PTS

I said to my son around 35 mins in it was clear we had a game plan to press less reserve energy and let them run into dead ends and just keep a little back ready to spring into them going in 0-0 or hopefully pinch a goal and then press like mad 2nd half when they're feeling it. Mousinhogot this whole 90 minutes tactically spot on. Lucky not to go 1 down granted but risk rewarded tonight. |
