That statement is superb. Full respect.
Confirmation too that we have offered a take-the-piss contract again.

A fully fit pacy, freescoring Ronan Curtis The Republic of Ireland International of 3/4 years ago was the player. The Ronan Curtis of the last two years has been a shadow of that player - too slow to take his man on the outside, only tries the cutting in & shooting trick. He got the contract offer his last two seasons deserve - up to him to prove he can be the former again.

Some people are confusing Duty of Care with goodwill. DoC ends when the contract ends. After that, any form of assistance form the club is merely goodwill - as appears to be the case here, offering facilities to help with his rehab and fight back to full fitness. Sensibly he's gonna see how things are in Sept when he expects to be close to match fitness and hope his condition warrants a proper contractual offer at an appropriate wage. Surprised the club offered 12 mths at a vastly reduced amount - like he was ever gonna tie himself into that. Likewise, no-ones gonna commit to buying him until he's at the stage to pass a fitness test so I'd say we re still in with a good chance.

I'm not going to be too harsh judging any player consistently played out of position in an under performing team. and for me under a manager who over complicated things and confused the players.

It would seem that Cullen didn't learn from the Whatmough/ Norris episide and the likely fan reaction that will probably lose us a quality player. He's always ahad a 'spark' in him in (like Morrell), makes things happen and score goals. As it to understand this point on the same day the Club brings in a reguar performer for a sude thatb was relegated back to League Twu by the oriverbiak coountry mile....worse than that he was released by FGR although I appreciae that this could have been fir saklart, contractuak reasons.
There is ambition allegedly but it's hard to see with naked eye.

That was funny Cunning. I think Unwin was a bit more football savvy though. The fact that a team gets relegated does not mean all their players are crap. Also, Curtis hasn’t been effective for ages, it might be better for all concerned if he refreshed his career elsewhere.

Ha ha terribly sorry about that, don't know what happened there I'm afraid....didn't look like that when I hit the send button late last night.
I'm relieved that the mighty keyboard warriors who know everything about football were able to get the jist of what I was saying. By the way the late Stanley Unwin was a very educated man.

Plenty of keyboard dribblers though.

If he did get his agent to write it, good for him.
I NEVER understand why celebs on millions don't get a pleb to read their online incoming messages, filter them for abusive crap, then read the ones worth their time.

Curtis’ contract expired 1st July he’s been only at FP doing rehabilitation work.

We are all shedding a tear that fans favourite Ronan has left. What will we do with ourselves now?
07-07-2023, 04:48 PM
He'll know the situation about being first pick, if he is happy to sign on that basis he will be better back up than most we're likely to get.
Always handy having a decent player starting their season half way through as regards being fresh in January.

I still have my original feelings (as above) re Ronan.
I hope he stays, because, if he does, he will know by then that there is no where else to go, and he has to prove himself here. Fight for his place when fitness allows, and ultimately start enjoying the game once more.

Smart money rebuys Ronan. Known quantity, scores goals, gets the club, chases everything

Waves his arms about at the Fratton End, cuts inside (again) and….hopefully
One trick pony. Needs to up his game because he isn’t as good as when he arrived. I don’t buy the ‘confused by the manager bit’ either. It’s still the same defenders and it ain’t complicated…..get past em and shoot, or cross it!
08-07-2023, 06:04 PM
That equates him to Carl Dickensen. Is that fair?

Interesting to hear that an under performing left winger returned to the champ and started playing well under a simple but experienced manager.

Well Dale took on his man and did it again and again and again, until he lost it, or missed.
