I think he could be again it GS took the captaincy away from him.
IMO that's why he tracks back so often, to help his troops (so to speak.) Give it to Stones maybe. I prefer the captain to be at the back., Just like The brilliant Bobby Moore.

Things starting to get out now that the squad are unhappy with the strategy. I can see us drawing the next one and then getting put out by the Germans.

There is some evidence that the ground for the last game was "inappropriate"
With the roof closed (why??) It was very humid and the pitch we could all see cutting up. Can our current players actually play on anything other than a perfect carpet?

Other team didn't struggle

That Very Awful Regulation - again!
Let's hope it doesn't grow to ruin this Tournament. In real time the Holland goal looked good all day long, and only after the forensic dissection of VAR was it interpreted that the goalkeeper was, in some way, distracted. In my view he could see the ball, however, he was never going to be able to save that quick short on goal ie GOAL ! One wonders if it had been the other way around and France had scored ??

The roof being closed, the high humidity & soggy pitch didn't affect the Danes. The players knew what the pitch & conditions in the stadium were like after the warm up. The "non-performance" was all totally down to Southgate, his chosen line up & terrible tactics.

I hate all this off-side ruling.
if you're passed the line from the defence when the ball is kicked, then you're off-side, period. IMO

Indeed.

I can see why it was disallowed because he was standing where the goalkeeper should have dived to try and save the shot. The fact that he didn't dive and would probably never have reached it is not really relevant.
But I agree with the above, he was standing in an offside position so the goal should be disallowed full stop - forget whether he was interfering or not, he was offside.

Win first game, draw enough for second game. Make it all knockout, then we wont have these dull matches. France/Netherlands for example, what a waste of time that was. England also weren't too bothered about winning...draw was enough.

It appears that the deluded"It's coming home mob"'are losing/have already lost faith in the England team.
I've noticed around our area that about half of the flags on display have dissappeared already.

It breeds a play safe approach that prevents creative open football being played. But what are the alternatives. The highest ranked countries wouldn’t agree to a knockout format without some form of seeding. The smaller nations wouldn’t agree to that as it would guarantee most of the being knocked out after playing only one match.

Sorting England out is pretty easy really. Bellingham at no 8. Rice at 6. Foden at 10. Sako or Palmer at 7. Kane and later Tony at 9. Eze or Gorden at 11. Raggett at 5. Done.

Well, looks like our ticket allocation hasn't worked out too badly. On Wednesday we're at Romania v Slovakia in Frankfurt - with all teams in that group having 3 points it is all to play for. On Saturday in Berlin 2A v 2B it looks like it could be Italy v Switzerland or faint possibly the Sweaties.
So really looking forward to trip - will become a lot clearer later today

The tell tale sign is that - win, lose or draw - you end up feeling like you've lost. There can't be many go-to moments on youtube when searching for England games. Southgate's hide the fact that 90 per cent of England games are against teams that are there for the taking - Macedonia, Estonia, Umbungo Land etc etc and most of the time the mind numbing boring tactic works. Then we meet a team that's actually good and we get done. The worse thing we have a decade of Germany, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Holland and Portugal being on various occasions beatable. We have changed a jot during that time whilst they have learned their lessons. Missed the boat is the phrase i'm looking for. The only thing is that I still can't think of an available replacement.
My sentiments exactly, well said.
I know he will always be a Judas to some on here but I do wonder what Redknapp would have done with our shower if he got hold of them instead of Allardyce. No one has excited me in the top job since El Tel but Harry at that time would have. The bookies fancy Eddie Howe as the next England manager but I don't really know what he stands for. We should have three stars on our shirt by now.

We are fortunate to have one, as we got a little bit of luck in 1966 like Argentina did in 1986. In 1990, if we had got past Germany, the Argies would likely have beaten us. 2018 if we had got past Croatia, France would have battered us. That's a certainty. 2022, if we had got past France and then Morocco, Argentina would have beaten us. We have lost world cup quarter finals but getting to a world cup quarter final isn't too hard. You can make a case for us having won at least one European championship by now, but not three world cups. England will win a euros or something when it's least expected.
